The 2nd annual ReelAbilities Columbus Disabilities Film Festival seeks high energy, dependable, creative, team-oriented interns. We require a commitment of at least 8 hours per week (April – July), preferably 16 hours a week (August - September); interns should expect to attend most components of the ReelAbilities Film Festival.

ABOUT REELABILITIES
ReelAbilities: NY Disabilities Film Festival is the largest festival of its kind worldwide. The Festival is dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives and artistic visions of people with different abilities through dramatic and documentary films, as well as engaging panels and other arts programming. In addition to the flagship festival in NY, the festival is in 13 major US cities. Columbus was the 9th city selected to host. The 2nd annual ReelAbilities Columbus will be October 4 – 7, 2013 and is expected to include over 30 partners, serve 1,000 attendees, and indirectly reach over 500,000 through marketing.

SCOPE OF INTERNSHIP
Interns will have the opportunity to gain supervised, hands-on experience with all aspects of planning and producing a major film festival, from publicity and outreach to filmmaker relations and event production. The intern will work across disciplines, gaining experience in administration, development, marketing and programming. All interns will be expected to perform a variety of tasks, ranging from assisting with typical administrative tasks (limited data entry) to writing, development and program research, staffing special events/screenings, web updates and more.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

In Advance of the Festival

- Reaching out to local schools, non-profits, and other organizations to publicize the festival

- Working in collaboration with four high-profile Columbus venues to plan on-site programming.

- Preparing marketing materials for all partners

- Managing a thorough and wide-reaching distribution of festival collateral

- Aiding in filmmaker and panelist relations and hospitality

- Program research and writing

- Additional administrative tasks as required

During the Festival

- Events production assistance

- Acting as a guest liaison and general hospitality

- General tasks - transferring prints between venues, green room prep, etc.

- Some video and still photography

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for interns who are organized; independent workers and team players; familiar with Internet research and basic computer application (Google Docs, Microsoft, etc); familiar with social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube...); and passionate about the intersection of arts and disability
