About the Workshop
This engaging and interactive professional development session will focus on adaptive materials and inclusion strategies for instruction in the art class. We will experiment with adaptive materials and discuss classroom management as it pertains to students with disabilities.  This professional development session is appropriate for classroom teachers, art teachers, and teaching artists. You won’t want to miss out on this opportunity, come join in the fun! The workshop will include a break for lunch. 

About the Presenter, Dennis Cannon
Dennis Cannon’s career background includes visual arts teacher and coordinator of gifted and arts programs. He also served as the Executive Director for the “Transforming Education Through the Arts Challenge” (TETAC), a national educational reform initiative. He currently serves as Director of Student Teaching and Field Experiences for the Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy at The Ohio State University.  He has experience with program design for gifted students and special needs students in the visual and performing arts, as well as visual arts curriculum design, and professional development design and implementation on the local, state, and national level. Dennis has served as president of the Ohio Art Education Association and currently serves as president of the Ohio Art Education Foundation. He has also been honored as the 2010 Ohio Art Educator of the Year.

Patrick Callicotte, co –presenter, is an art teacher at Chapman Elementary in the Dublin City Schools district. In his desire to bring exposure to all that his students are capable of, he has initiated some innovative methods in his classroom to enable students of varying abilities to create art independently. His inventions and adaptations allow students who cannot hold a paintbrush to experience colors and create impressive works of art. Patrick received his Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education from The Ohio State University.
